Vinita Public Schools said it will transition to distance learning at its high school after confirming another COVID-19 case on Saturday afternoon.
In addition to Saturday's newest COVID-19 case, the district cited the "high number of cases that we have incurred at the high school" as the reason for the switch to distance learning at Vinita High School.
Other school sites will continue with in-person instruction, according to the district.
Distance learning for Vinita High School students will begin Monday, Oct. 5 and run through Friday, Oct. 9.
Students will not be allowed on the high school campus at all this week. The district said it will begin contact tracing and contact anyone who may be affected by the newest case.
All extracurricular activities, at the middle and high schools, have been canceled by Vinita Public Schools.
Among the canceled extracurricular events for the high school include Vinita's Friday football game against Holland Hall and a cross country meet scheduled for Thursday in Cushing.
