This month marks nine years since an unsolved murder changed the Saunders family forever.

As the investigation continues, the family and friends of 19-year-old Carina Saunders are hoping to keep her memory alive.

"Well, there is a pain you cannot describe," Carina's father, Richard Saunders, said.

"We can't forget. We don't have the choice," Carina’s sister, Sara Saunders, said.

Nine years ago this week, two people found the remains of Carina Saunders behind a grocery store in Bethany. She was dismembered inside a pair of bags.

"Really, we want justice,” Sara Saunders said. “The point is remembering what happened to Carina and they don't forget.”

Family and friends put flyers and stickers up around the metro this weekend.

"The locations we normally choose are locations Carina hung out in, that she had friends in,” Sara Saunders said. “We know known drug addicts live in.”

The family holds out hope for someone to have a clue that can solve this nine-year-long mystery.

"People we know have information. Those are the areas we hit the hardest," Sara Saunders said.

The OSBI reinstated the $10,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of Carina’s potential murderer or murderers.

"We are hoping fear is no longer a factor,” Richard Saunders said. “We are right at nine years, and hopefully, someone has the courage to come, speak up, tell what they know and we can put a rest to this.”
