Oklahoma City police are investigating a possible murder-suicide Friday after they say a man fatally shot his wife and then himself in northwest Oklahoma City.
Authorities responded to a shooting call just after 7 p.m. in the 4000 block of Cherry Hill Ln.
“Officers responded to a call of a shooting. It was inside a residence, the caller said he had just shot his wife,” said Lieutenant Isaac Goodman, with the Oklahoma City Police Department.
Goodman said the man was sobbing on the phone. Dispatchers kept him on the line as police responded to the home located near an OCPD division building.
At one point, there was a gunshot and then no response from the man, police said.
According to the report, police looked and saw a man and woman on the ground with gunshot wounds.
“Officers were eventually able to get into a position where they could see through a window into the house, and they were able to see both victims down inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds,” said Goodman.
Police secured the scene and determined no one else was inside the home except for a dog, which was unharmed.
Goodman said officers are working to notify family and to get permission for homicide detectives to investigate the scene.
For now, Goodman said the incident is considered a probable murder-suicide.
This is a developing story.
