Horn, Bice Face Off In Tight Race For Congressional District 5

In Central Oklahoma, voters are deciding one of the most highly contested congressional races in the country.

The District 5 Congressional seat race is between Democrat Kendra Horn and Republican Stephanie Bice.

Democratic Congresswoman Kendra Horn is trying to hold on to her seat, she's Oklahoma's only Democrat in Washington after winning the seat from Republicans in 2018.

Horn spent the day before the election cleaning up branches at a Northeast Oklahoma City polling place, Wildewood Baptist Church.

Her challenger, Republican State Senator Stephanie Bice, spent her last day campaigning with U.S. Senator James Lankford across the congressional district's three counties.

News 9 talked with both candidates about their biggest criticisms on education and oil and gas before Tuesday's race is decided.

“The truth is, I supported the largest investment in common education in Oklahoma history in 2018. Almost $500 million went into public schools in Oklahoma and I voted very much in favor of that, and I also voted in 2019 for an additional $1,200 teacher pay raise,” Bice said.

Horn says she's constantly had to deal with attacks on her oil and gas record.

“The votes they’re attacking me on, no Oklahoma company has offshore drilling interest, that’s one of them. No Oklahoma company is drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Preserve, that’s the other that they’re talking about,” Horn said

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 p.m.
