Police have identified two officers who fatally shot a homeless man on Friday in northwest Oklahoma City.

Police have identified two officers who fatally shot a homeless man on Friday in northwest Oklahoma City.

Master Sgt. Keith Duroy, a 28-year veteran of the department, and Sgt. Clifford Holman, a seven-year veteran of the department, were the officers who fatally shot 60-year-old Bennie Edwards, police said.

Officers were called to the 2100 block of W Hefner Road in reference to a man bothering customers outside of a store.

When officers arrived, police said Edwards was holding a knife.

Officers tried to Taser him and use OC spray on him but they said it was ineffective.

The man ran toward an officer while holding the knife and two officers fired, police said.

One officer suffered a minor injury and is expected to be OK.

Both officers were placed on administrative leave.
