A former police officer was found guilty in the beating death of a 94-year-old woman.
Robert Hashagen was convicted on Tuesday by an Oklahoma County jury. The jury returned an alternative count of first-degree murder while in commission of a burglary with a recommended sentence of life with parole.
He is accused of beating Evelyn Goodall in 2013. She later died from her injuries.
Goodall lived in a northwest Oklahoma City neighbor where Hashagen’s sister and husband lived. Hashagen would live there on-and-off for years.
Goodall was beaten and burglarized in 2010 and 2013. Hashagen was only charged for the 2013 assault.
Prosecutors said Hashagen’s DNA was found on evidence in both attacks.
Hashagen was arrested in 2017 in connection with Goodall’s death.
Hashagen did not testify in his defense.
The sentencing hearing is set for 2 p.m. March 4.
