Army Corps Of Engineers Helps Meet Power Demand During Winter Weather

The Army Corps of Engineers is stepping up to help meet the demand for power across the state.

The Army Corps said they have 22 turbines at eight different power houses across the state.

The turbines are working at a 5-percent overload to produce 25 additional megawatts of power.

This will help 2.6 million people in Oklahoma and surrounding states like Texas, Arkansas and Missouri.

Col Scott Preston with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said "these employees are all department army civilians, they great patriots, and they are doing what they can to make sure that these houses produce power."

The Army Corps said that they are not worried about the reservoir freezing and that they have had no technical issues with their machinery.
