OKC Couple Gets Engaged In Greenhouse During Valentine's Day Weekend

With apologies to Frosty, a greenhouse sounds like a pretty good place to be these days. 

A greenhouse was the idea Jackson Mayberry had when he decided to propose to his girlfriend, Cara Newton, during a frigid Valentine’s Day weekend.

Mayberry wanted to find a place that was warm but still special. 

Newton loves flowers, so he picked Trochta’s Flowers and Garden Center in Oklahoma City as the perfect place to pop the question. 

“I was looking for something that wouldn’t be so, so cold, and knowing that she loves flowers, they have a lot of them," Jackson said.

Jackson proposed to Newton amongst the plants. While we had to keep our distance to not ruin the surprise, you could tell what Newton’s answer was. 

“I kind of blacked out,” Newton said. “I feel like my knees went a little weak, which is probably pretty normal, because this is the first time I’ve ever been proposed to.”

Newton said the proposal wasn’t a complete surprise. Her freshly-done nails are evidence of that. 

“Well, that’s again a little bit of the inkling that it might have happened and I played it off as, ‘Oh, it’s Valentine’s Day,’” Newton said.

It is a Valentine’s Day weekend that Newton and Mayberry will never forget.
