Wellness Wednesday: Oklahoma Maternal Mortality

Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City was named as one of the best hospitals in the country to have a baby.

Only four other hospitals in the state made this list.

To make the list, hospitals must have a good record of safe pregnancies, no complications, and a traditional birth.

Mercy Hospital has low rates of C-sections, but they also aren't delivering babies prematurely very often. Dr. Chad Smith with Mercy says what this really boils down to having a great group of staff, nurses, and physicians ready to apply the latest technology, research, and data - to apply the best practices.
