Gov. Kevin Stitt has asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate the state's pardon and parole board about two recommendations for commutations.
This letter came after one man was accused of killing three people shortly after he was released from prison early.
The request is related to the two recommendations for early releases of Lawrence P. Anderson and Jonathan Perez, OSBI said.
Anderson, 42, is accused of killing three people on Feb. 9 in Chickasha after getting out of prison early.
The victims were his uncle, his uncle's 4-year-old grandchild and a woman who was a neighbor to Anderson's family.
Anderson was released in January after his sentence was commuted by Stitt. Anderson received a commutation recommendation from the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board.
In the letter to OSBI Director Ricky James, Stitt said he was presented with information which raises concerns that violations of state law and/or violations of the rules of the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board may have been committed, affecting the recommendations of the board in relation to the two inmates.
Stitt said he was notified by Tom Bates, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board's director.
