Muskogee Police released body cam video from a chase and deadly shooting involving officers and two runaway teenagers from Nebraska.

Police said the 17-year-old girl Farrah Rauch shot at officers and the officers fired back, killing her. Police said the other suspect Joseph Dugan then shot himself.

Police said they hadn’t had a suspect shoot at officers in 25 years and now they’ve had three in the last eight months.

They said in this case, these teenagers went a crime spree across the country and ended up here in Muskogee when police say they stole a truck, led officers on a chase, then shot at officers.

Police said the moment the chase took a turn for the worse is when Rauch shot at an officer as he ran after her. Police said at one point she hid behind a car and shot at officers again.

Later, officers said they had her surrounded as she was lying on the ground. They saw her moving and gave her several commands to show her hands. Police said she sat up, pointed a gun at officers and that's when an officer shot her.

Police said Dugan ran the opposite direction into the woods and then shot himself.

Officers said this was after the two suspects led officers on an eight mile chase. Officers were able to take out both driver side tires with stop sticks but they kept going.

Police Chief Johnny Teehee said this was traumatic for the whole department because they all have kids. Rauch’s dad invited him to Nebraska to speak at Farrah’s funeral.

“We have teenage daughters. So when I put myself in that position I got to thinking of I was on the opposite end of this, I would want someone to take the tone to help me through the process. To help me to understand,”

said Chief Teehee.

Officers said the boy suspect also had a gun but never fired at officers. Police also found an AK-47 in the stolen truck.
