Artists Painting Jackie Robinson Mural Outside OneOK Field

Crews are working on a new mural of baseball legend Jackie Robinson outside OneOK Field in downtown Tulsa. The Tulsa Drillers hired a local artist and flew another in from Denver for the project.

“When we do public art, it’s a way to get the word out, to document history, to document what’s been in the past,” Denver artist Thomas Evans said.

“The opportunity to paint such an iconic figure in history, [I’m] a little bit nervous, but really humbled,” Tulsa artis Chris Sker said.

Workers said the mural should be finished later this week.
