The Superintendent of Collinsville Public Schools is praising staff at the middle school for quick action after a student brought an unloaded gun to school on Wednesday.

The Superintendent of Collinsville Public Schools is praising staff at the middle school for quick action after a student brought an unloaded gun to school Wednesday.

The Superintendent said another student notified an adult when he learned a student brought the gun to school.

Administration was able to locate the student and gun within 10 minutes of the report.

They said the student made no threats and because of quick action the school did not have to go on lockdown.

In a letter to parents, the school’s principal said the weapon was never revealed and no ammo was found.

The district said the student will face disciplinary action.

Collinsville Police will handle any criminal charges.
