Improvements to Highway 20 at Keetonville Hill between Owasso and Claremore are underway. The project calls for Keetonville Hill to be realigned and built to four lanes to cross over the top of the hill.
On Highway 20 at 4080 Road, the corridor will be expanded to five lanes. This will be an extension to the previous widening on the west side of the hill.
The $44 million project was approved in December.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation spokesperson Kenna Mitchell said the upgrades are necessary because of how dangerous the north side of the hill can be for drivers. Debris from storms and mudslides are not uncommon.
Mitchell said the highway will stay open on the current alignment so traffic delays are not coming yet.
“Once we get to the widening section that’s to the west of Keetonville Hill we will see some impacts to traffic there but for right now working on the new path of the new alignment, it won’t be too much of an impact to traffic,” said Mitchell. “It’s an area that drivers will need to be alert to when they see the crews and equipment out there.”
The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2022 as long as the weather permits.
