The Outdoor Life sponsored by Academy Sports and Outdoors is back for spring 2021. Lacie Lowry kicks things off with shooting tips for shotgun sports like trap, skeet and sporting clays.
She spoke with shooting expert and former Team USA member Zac Womack who now owns Silverleaf Shotgun Sports in Guthrie. Womack said remember these things:
1. Bring the shotgun up to your face, do not pull your face down to the shotgun
2.Slightly lean forward when you stand, with 60% of your weight on the front foot and 40% on the back foot
3. Look at the target, not the barrel of your shotgun. Pay no attention to the sight bead at the end of your shotgun
4. Follow through — keep swinging the shotgun in the same direction even after you shoot
5. Do not pull your head away from the shotgun too soon
Send Lacie Lowry your photos if you head out to shoot sporting clays!
