OHP: Suspect In Custody Following I-40 Pursuit Of Stolen Ambulance With Patient Inside

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a suspect is in custody after leading authorities in a pursuit Friday on Interstate 40 in Seminole County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a suspect is in custody after leading authorities in a pursuit Friday on Interstate 40 in Seminole County.

According to OHP, the suspect stole a Shawnee ambulance with a patient inside.

The pursuit initiated in the Shawnee area, OHP said.

Officials told News 9, medics were at the emergency room entrance of St. Anthony's hospital when the EMS driver got out. They said the suspect jumped into the ambulance and took off. According to the report, a second medic inside of the ambulance fell out. That medic sustained minor injuries but is expected to be OK.

Troopers were able to stop the suspect in Okfuskee County about a 1/2 mile south of I-40 on SH 27.

A second ambulance went to the scene to pick up the patient, authorities said. The patient's condition is unknown.
