Fire officials with the Oklahoma City Fire Department said an Oklahoma City police officer jumped into Lake Overholser Friday in an attempt to rescue a man and his dog from a capsized boat.

Crews responded to a call of a small, capsized boat just after 6 p.m. Lieutenant Isaac Goodman was first to arrive on the scene where he put on a life jacket and entered the water.

When firefighters arrived they said the officer was trying to rescue the man and his dog from the overturned boat but they say high winds and rough currents made the rescue attempt difficult.

Officials said the dive team was able to rescue the officer and the dog, but were unsuccessful in their attempts to rescue the man. The victim's body was recovered.

He has not been identified.
