On the list of top 10 whiskey collections in the world is one you can't find in Oklahoma City.

Unless you get a special invite from the owner who can't keep his passion for scotch corked that is.

“I tried my first single malt and fell in love with it,” said Oklahoma City’s Dewayne Poor, whose whiskey collection is worth several million dollars.

Poor said he was originally a red wine drinker, but the tannins from the wine affected his health.

Poor suffers from Meniere’s disease, which can causes episodes of vertigo.

He was soon drawn to the complexity of aged scotch whiskey.

He started collecting whiskeys in the 1997.

“It’s still not about the money. It’s about a passion with me that I enjoy sharing with other people,” Poor said.

Poor travels the world on the hunt of rare bottles. The cardiovascular perfusionist has paid has much as $30,000 for a one bottle.

He told News 9 that the same bottle is now worth more than $70,000.

His collection also features a bottle of whiskey purchased in the 1980s in Oklahoma with its original price tag of just under $15.

That bottle is now worth about $1,000.

Poor points to a Forbes article, showing that rare whiskey increased in value from 2008 to 2018 by 580%.

He was about 6,000 bottles of mainly scotch whiskey and some bottles bourbon.

Poor shares his love through Stag, a the whiskey bar he owns in Oklahoma City’s Deep Deuce.

For him, whiskey is a joy that shouldn’t be kept bottled up.

“It just builds some long term relationships and friendships that just can't be beat,” he said.
