Enid police are in search of two burglary suspects after video captures them breaking into an ATM. It happened at a bank near Willow and Cleveland Street just after 3 am Sunday, when police were alerted by an ATM alarm.
"They arrived and found the ATM had been broken into," said Cass Rains, with Enid Police. "And the door was located out in the parking lot."
The Stride Banks surveillance video caught a black Ford F-350 driving up as two masked suspects got out and started prying the ATM loose with crowbars. They then used a chain attached to the back of the truck to rip the door open.
"It was later learned that the vehicle used had been stolen in a neighborhood about a quarter of a mile north of the bank," said Rains.
That’s when Don Harvey said he received a surprising phone call from police.
"There’d been a robbery and the second thing they asked me is, ‘Do you know where your pickup is?" said Harvey, the owner of the vehicle.
He said he left it parked at his daughter’s house.
"I was just surprised," Harvey said. "Who would know that their vehicle would be used in a robbery like that."
He said the only damage the truck sustained was to the ignition. Investigators found the truck still running in the middle of the street not too far from the ATM after the burglary. The suspects were nowhere to be found.
"We’re following whatever leads we have already as it’s still in its very early stages of our investigation," said Rains.
Investigators said it’s uncertain how much money was exactly stolen from the ATM.
If you have any information on this case, you’re asked to call police.
