Chickasha resident Ronnie Self III was charged Tuesday with four counts including aggravated assault after a dispute with his neighbor ended with a baseball bat attack.

Darrin Bradley said he walked out of his house near South 9th Street in Chickasha to find fecal matter on his patio furniture.

“Someone had dumped a bucket of feces on my patio chair,” Bradley said.

Bradley said he suspected Self, his neighbor, was behind it. Bradley said he confronted Self and the two got into a screaming match.

During the argument, Bradley said Self admitted to defecating on the porch.

Bradley said Self drew a pistol, pointed it at him, and then went back to the house to grab a baseball bat.

“He comes out with a baseball bat and told me to ‘Come get some of that,’” Bradley said.

Eventually, Bradley said he did not back down and eventually Self hit him with the bat multiple times.

In the probable cause affidavit, Chickasha police said, after the incident, Self told officers he hit Bradley with the bat but under different circumstances.

Self told officers he only pointed the pistol at the ground and never at Bradley or Bradley’s roommate, who Self said was previously harassing him.

Self said Bradley spit in his face and pushed him leading up to the baseball strikes, which Bradley denies.

“He says I spit in his face. Well, if you get that damn close to me, anything can happen,” Bradley said.

Ronnie Self Sr., Self’s grandfather, said he doesn’t believe Bradley’s version of the story.

Although Self Sr. arrived after the incident, he said a neighbor told him Self was defending himself from Bradley and the roommate.

“I don’t see him just running out there and jumping on anybody,” Self Sr. said. “Now if you got two people charging you, one spits in your face, I say that’s self-defense.”

Billy Martson lives two doors down from Bradley and Self and said Self’s strikes did not appear to be self-defense.

“(Self) was just out for anger and fighting with anybody,” Martson said. “Next thing I know (Self) just hit (Bradley).”

Self is in custody at the Grady County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
