This year has taken almost every student online, but for Jewel Hale, she did not have to worry about that transition. Hale has already been working on perfecting her digital learning.
"I took too many classes my freshman and sophomore year, and I only had about eight and a half credits left," Hale, a graduating senior from Oklahoma Connections Academy, said.
Hale has been learning online, getting ahead and loving science and math.
"I love animals, I love learning and I am very curious,” Hale said.
Hale went to a STEM camp for young women in seventh grade. At that point, she knew this was her calling.
As she graduates with honors this year, one in particular is being recognized as a STEM graduate.
"It's like signing for an athletic program, but instead, I was signing saying I will major in a STEM field for the next four years,” Hale said.
As one of the top 20 students in Oklahoma in the STEM field, Boeing recognized her hard work. A benefit of the recognition is having a STEM mentor.
"It's having someone to ask questions, knowing what the next steps could be and having someone to make connections with," Hale said.
While Hale has been able to take classes at the University of Central Oklahoma while in high school, she will be attending Oklahoma Baptist University to get her biology degree.
