A former Oklahoma County Sheriff's Deputy is accused of raping two children.

Christopher Bowles, 39, was arrested Tuesday on complaints of rape and lewd acts with a child.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office said Bowles worked for them for 10 years from 2008 to 2018.

"At no point was he a School Resource Office," OCSO PIO Aaron Brilbeck said. "At no point did he have any contact with kids."

During his time with the department, he worked in the Oklahoma County Jail.

"First he worked up in the housing area then he worked down at the commissary," Brilbeck said. "He left on good terms with us after 10 years."

His highest ranking before he left in 2018 was sergeant.

According to an affidavit, the now former deputy is accused of raping two children.

Oklahoma City police said this all started back in 2016. Officers said one of the victims was 7 years old. Inappropriate behavior allegedly started with the other victim when she was 11 and further escalated until the girl was 16.

During at least two of those years Bowles would have been employed by the county. Brilbeck told News 9 there were no red flags when they hired Bowles.

"Obviously before the OCSO hires anyone we do an extensive background check," Brilbeck said. "There was nothing in the background check that indicated there were any types of problems to my knowledge. There was nothing in his files that indicated any problems."

Some of this allegedly happened at Bowles' home and sometimes while visiting another.

The adult who reported the accusations said the victim told her Bowles made her believe they were in a relationship.

The reporting adult also told detectives the victim said another reason she didn't resist was to protect other kids in the home.

Jones police and Oklahoma City police are involved in the investigation.

Bowles was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of rape in the first-degree, rape by instrumentation and lewd acts with a child.

His bond is set at $600,000.
