Fans Endure Extreme Heat To Watch Sooners Win WCWS National Championship

Oklahoma City officially marked its hottest day so far in 2021 as 13,000 fans packed Hall of Fame Stadium Thursday afternoon to watch the University of Oklahoma Sooners win a fifth national title over the Florida State Seminoles.

Oklahoma City officially marked its hottest day so far in 2021 as 13,000 fans packed Hall of Fame Stadium Thursday afternoon to watch the University of Oklahoma Sooners win a fifth national title over the Florida State Seminoles.

EMSA responded to 21 heat related illness calls during the game that began at 2 p.m.

“Everybody’s been great, some people are just having water passed out and helping them out, Antonio Record said. “It hasn’t seemed too bad.”

“I’m really, really sweaty right now,” Cassidy from Edmond said before entering her first ever World Series game.

News 9 Chief Meteorologist David Payne said heat indexes at the ballpark reached more than 105 degrees.
