A former Green Country gymnastics coach accused of molesting girls is back in custody after investigators said he tried to flee the country.

They said he booked a flight for Frankfurt, Germany.

Investigators said Jean-Luc Cairon got on a plane Monday at Tulsa International Airport and made it to Denver before Homeland Security agents got him back in custody.

Cairon, is accused of molesting underage girls he coached. The accusations range from the early 1990s until January 2021.

"It's not like you're talking about someone who stole something from a retail store or something like that, we're talking about somebody who's alleged to have committed some fairly significant crimes,” said Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler.

Court records show Cairon posted bond on May 26 and was given a GPS monitor the same day.

A week later, he asked if his GPS monitor could be removed for a doctor's appointment in OKC on June 14. He was ordered to return after the appointment to get the monitor put back on, but did not.

“A little bit of investigation indicated we had some concerns that he was where he was not supposed to be, so we made efforts to try to get that warrant recalled,” said Kunzweiler.

Investigators said Cairon flew from Tulsa to Denver Monday afternoon. They said Homeland Security agents arrested him before he got on his connecting flight to Germany.

"He's currently looking at being held without bond and I'm sure we'll have some more hearings on his case to try to figure out why he wasn't compliant with his bond conditions,” said Kunzweiler.

Cairon was coaching at South Country Gymnastics in Jenks, before he was terminated from his position there earlier this year. Records show he also coached at Arizona State University, was a member of the French Olympic Team and holds three national titles.

The affidavit said local detectives also spoke with two former athletes who said they were abused by Cairon years ago, but it's too late to file any criminal charges in their cases.

Cairon faces three counts of lewd molestation. He is being represented by the public defenders office, who did not have a comment.
