Star Oral Roberts basketball point guard Max Abmas will return to the Golden Eagles next season.
The school made the announcement just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Abmas had entered the NBA draft, attending the draft combine and going through workouts for individual teams, all while maintaining his college eligibility. The deadline to withdraw from the draft is 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
The rising junior was the nation’s leading scorer in 2020-21, averaging 24.5 points a game in leading ORU to the program’s first Sweet 16 appearance since 1974.
Abmas played every minute of the Golden Eagles’ three NCAA tournament games, averaging 26.7 points, 4.7 assists and three rebounds.
The news comes the same day teammate Kevin Obanor announced he was withdrawing his name from the NBA draft, but entering the transfer portal.
