The Lean Mean Vaccine Machine is a local doctor's latest push to make sure everyone has a chance to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Dr. David Chansolme started the vaccine machine a few months ago, he said he travels anywhere and everywhere through the metro bringing the vaccine to Oklahomans.
"I probably thought of the idea back in January or February," Chansolme, the President of Infectious Disease Consultants of OKC said. "I bought the van, and it took some time to put a design on it and outfit it and we started giving out vaccines in March or April."
The idea for the van came a while back when Chansolme was at an event and noticed dozens of parents and kids all in one spot.
"Thinking to myself a lot of these parents work during the week and can't get off," Chansolme said. "So, what if we brought the vaccine to a soccer game or their place of work, something like that."
The van is ran through the Infectious Disease Consultants of OKC.
Chansolme said when they show up to places it sparks a conversation about the vaccine, which was a goal.
"Some people are curious that come by who were hesitant before," Chansolme said. "You're able to talk with them and answer some questions in a very direct form of communication. Probably about 30% to 40% of the people we have vaccinated at least, may have not gotten the vaccine otherwise."
So far, they have given out over 5,000 vaccinations on the van. They offer Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson.
