The Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks has announced with heavy hearts that their giant Pacific octopus has passed away.

The aquarium said he died of old age. They said he was around two years old when he came to the aquarium and the life expectancy for the giant Pacific octopus is only three to five years.

“In nearly two years with us, he taught us many lessons and touched countless lives as an ambassador for his species. It will likely be a few months until a new ambassador can fill his metaphorical shoes (all 8 of them),” they said in a statement.

The aquarium invites you to share your favorite photos and memories of the octopus with them.
