Clean up from Sunday’s tornados continues across Oklahoma.

In the southwest portion of the state, a reported tornado touched down around 6:50 p.m. Sunday and ripped through downtown Anadarko. Three buildings were destroying and dozens more were damaged due to the storms.

The Anadarko City Manager Andrew Farl said round hay bales were picked up and thrown into buildings at the local airport, and city office windows caved in under the pressure of the storm.

He said there were no injuries reported. Farl said an early warning was thanks, in large part, to a newly upgraded city system that emailed, called and texted residents.

Unfortunately, Anadarko is used to dealing with storms that pack a punch, he said.

“It’s another costly of cleanup for residence here. This is the third major storm that we’ve had in this area within a year,” Farl said.

Crews from Purcell and Edmond Electric are on the ground working to get the lights back on. The city manager said he hopes power will be fully restored by this evening.
