A convicted burglar is on the run, after escaping from the Oklahoma County Detention Center Wednesday night.
Officials say Nicholas Leach escaped from the Oklahoma County Detention Center around 8 Wednesday night, in a car he stole from a detention officer. It's described as a red 2008 Honda Civic with tinted windows except for the driver's seat.
He's possibly wearing a black t-shirt with the detention center logo.
The detention center says Leach is a trustee who worked in the maintenance department.
Wednesday night he stole a wireless remote from a detention officer's duty belt, that opens the back gate.
He also stole the officer's car keys from a book bag.
The Detention Center says Leach was able to open the gate and steal the officer's car.
Leach just pleaded guilty to several charges including 2nd degree burglary and false declaration to a pawnshop, he was booked into the jail back in May.
He was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison and waiting to be transferred to Department of Corrections' custody.
This is the fourth inmate to escape from the Oklahoma County Detention Center since the jail trust took over in July of 2020.
They're asking if you do see Leach, to please call 911 immediately.
