Since 2016, it's served as a landmark on Film Row: the Steven Adams mural.

The Big Kiwi hasn't been on the Thunder for about a year, and now, there's talk that he won't be on the side of the Paramount building on Sheridan anymore.

In 2016, New Zealand artist Graham Hoete, known as Mr. G, immortalized his fellow countryman on the side of the two-story building.

This is the second season Adams hasn't played for the Thunder and owners of the building want to see a little less of the mural.

Instead Paramount Partner said it wants to advertise the four businesses and two nonprofits now operating at the Paramount building.

The signs who be placed next to Adam’s intimidating face.

“They have invested their life savings and their daily activities into building those businesses and building that pat of Oklahoma City,” said Mark Falk with Paramount Partners about the tenants he wants to help promote.

Paramount Partners has submitted plans to Oklahoma City which include having new signs over parts of the mural.

“A mural is a little different from a sign in that the artist retains some rights and control of their art,” said Katie Friddle, with the Oklahoma City Planning Department.

Right now, Hoete doesn’t want his mural cluttered with business signs and prefers to do away with the entire piece of art.

“He indicated that it was OK with him to paint over the mural,” said Falk.

But seeing the former Thunder player subbed for a blank canvas is not what Paramount Partners ultimately wants to see happen.

“The ideal situation would be for us to be able to put some signs with Steven Adams on the wall and retain Steven Adams on the wall,” said Falk.

Paramount Partners said it’s still talking with the city and Hoete to see what kind of signage would be acceptable to all parties.
