A Blackwell teenager is recovering at an Oklahoma City hospital after being run over by a vehicle.
Police said it happened about 1 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of West McKinley in Blackwell.
Emily Shook, 14, is hospitalized at OU Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.
“When she does wake up, she yells for momma and reaches for her hand. She is right there for her,” said Debbie Linck, a close family friend.
Linck said a 13-year-old male and female were in the car at the time of the incident. The SUV began to roll backwards as Shook was walking behind it.
“She was ran over with both tires, flattened the back tire,” said Linck. “She (Shook) has a broken pelvis, broken leg and cracked skull. Her intestines are sitting in her chest. She’s had to have three surgeries already.”
Blackwell police said they are investigating the incident to determine whether the act was intentional or an accident.
Investigators said the duo was playing hide and go seek before the incident.
No arrests have been made in the case.
“I told her her (Shook’s) mom, she’s got an angel on her wing, because there is no way in heck that I could think an SUV could run over a little girl and stay alive,” said Linck.
The family is now left to watch and wait while they pray for a full recovery.
“We tried to talk to her, she can’t talk to us but we tell her we love her and we know she hears us,” said Linck.
Shook’s mom said Christmas will be tough to make this year, because of medical bills and hotel stays in Oklahoma City.
The Shook family is asking for Christmas donations for children ages 12 to 18 years old.
A Venmo account “Tishana Shook” has been set up for accepting donations.
