The Salvation Army will begin handing out donations from its Angel Tree program to metro families who need them.
More than 2000 children will be able to receive gifts this year because of those generous donations. That's on top of more than 400 seniors at four different centers who got their gifts Wednesday.
On Thursday, parents or guardians will be able to show up at designated times, check in with a volunteer and then volunteers will load those presents into their cars.
This is a large effort coordinated by more than 50 volunteers, but the Salvation Army says none of it would be possible without the generosity of Oklahomans.
"Their expression of caring and concern and allowing the Salvation Army to be a conduit of care for those in need. It is a wonderful thing to get up on Christmas and know that you made a child's dream come true," said Charles Powell, a major in the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army and their large number of volunteers will be working again Friday to finish handing out gifts to families, to help make even a bigger difference across the metro this Christmas.
