The Norman Christmas Day Dinner returned in 2021, after unfortunately being canceled last year due to COVID-19.
For Bob Magarian, the founder of the dinner, that means three decades of constant service had to take a break. The annual Norman Christmas Day Dinner is a free dinner for everyone, held this year at Norman High School.
"It was depressing last year because we realized there was around 300 families that couldn't get a meal, because we couldn't serve them," he said.
However, this year the doors are back open, and for Bob it means the return friends, of food and people who won't be alone on Christmas day.
"We have a lot of lonely people, and they like to be here and be with other people," said Magarian.
For many, Christmas is about being together with family and opening presents. But for Bob Magarian, he's happy that this year he can go back to one on his favorite parts of Christmas, service.
"You'll learn what life is all about when you serve others," said Magarian.
