A cheerleader from the University of Oklahoma was killed in a crash along the Oklahoma-Kansas border Sunday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Britney Marie Turley was driving on Kansas Highway 1 near Coldwater when her truck veered off the road and struck a concrete barrier.

Turley was rushed to Comanche County Hospital where she later passed away. Her mother tells News 9 her sister, Morgan Turley, was in the truck with her. She was also taken to a local hospital and is expected to be okay.

The Kansas Highway Patrol did not say how or why Turley's truck veered off the road for now. Turley's mother also confirms she was a cheerleader at OU. News 9 reached out to the university's athletic department but has not heard back yet.

The Sooner football team plays in the Alamo Bowl game in San Antonio this week.

News 9 also reached out to some of those who are on the cheer team, but they did not want to talk at this time.
