Blaine Smith took his first visit home since July to spend Christmas with his family.

He and his family went out for a Christmas nightcap, but when the time came to leave, he realized his car was gone.

"I just couldn't believe it was gone. Like, I was looking. I was like, 'did I park somewhere else?'" said Smith.

Smith quickly realized he didn't park somewhere else and ran back inside the Red Dog Saloon to tell his family.

"I was totally sick about it. I mean even now when I drive, I just can't help but look everywhere I go," said Smith's mom, Jerry Flowers.

The car thief didn't just steal Smith's way to get back to Fort Hood, Texas.

"Some Army issued stuff in the back of the trunk. My state championship ring from high school and medallion. Just everything. My CAC (Common Access Card) card, my Army CAC card. I can't get on post. My social security was in there. All my credit and debit cards," Smith said.

Two of Smith's personal guns were also in the car.

"When we woke up that morning, his credit card was alerting that he was trying to spend money at Walmart on the Expressway," said Flowers.

"They tried to send $500, then they tried to like take out $300 twice. They did a balance inquiry and then tried to send another $200," Smith said.

The police report shows the charges total more than $1,100. Now, Smith has to figure out how he'll get back to base at Fort Hood.

"I told him what he had bought me, he can just take it back," said Flowers. "That will be something that helps him maybe get him a rental car or something like that."

Smith is scheduled to report back to Fort Hood on the Dec. 30.
