A southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood is shaken after one person was killed in an overnight shooting.
"I heard like, ka-boom," said John Winston, a neighbor. "Like a real loud sound."
Police said they got the call about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. When they got to the home near SW 64th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, they found a man had been shot multiple times.
"He was transported to an area hospital; he was pronounced dead at the hospital," said Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight.
Investigators said the victim was involved in some type of confrontation outside the home moments before he was shot and killed.
"It's speechless," said Winston. "I mean, you see stuff on the news about other shootings happening, but you never would think that it would happen this close to where you live."
Winston lives next door to where the shooting happened and said this neighborhood usually stays quiet. He said he's never noticed anything out of the ordinary with the family before.
"I just sit and pray for the family, because I believe the person may have been going through something that we don't know," Winston said.
Police said no arrests have been made so far and they're not sure how many people were involved.
"We certainly need the public's help," said Knight. "A tough start to the New Year with us already being on homicide number three."
Investigators are still piecing the evidence together. They said there is no suspect description so far.
Police have not released the name of the man shot yet.
