The Georgia Bulldogs claimed their first national championship since 1980 on Monday night by a score of 33-18.
The Bulldogs overpowered the defending champion Tide in the second half, outscoring Alabama 27-9 in the half.
Heisman winner Bryce Young had the ball with 3 minutes to go in the game, but a costly pick-six ended the Tide's hopes of coming back to play for overtime.
This is Georgia's 3rd national title and the first since Herschel Walker carried the team to the championship in 1980.
Alabama and Georgia squared off in the SEC Championship earlier this season. The Tide won that match-up 41-24.
