A man is in custody and another is on the run after stealing from a convenience store and running away from Bartlesville police.

62-year-old Michael Leon McCalister of Tulsa was one of two men seen jumping out of a van after a police pursuit, according to Bartlesville Police. Police are still looking for the second subject who was caught on camera leaving the store.

Officers say it started around 5 a.m. on Wednesday when an alarm went off at the ASAP General Store on Nowata Road and SE Washington Blvd. BPD says a responding officer saw a white van leaving the parking lot and followed it heading west. They say the driver of the van tried to make a turn and ran off the road, at which point the two suspects jumped out of the van and ran away on foot.

Officers say they found a "large quantity" of cigarettes inside the van which had been stolen from the store. Police say they received a call from a resident reporting a man jumping fences through their neighborhood. Officers responded and were able to arrest McCalister.

Police are searching for any information on the second person involved and asking anyone with details to call 918-338-4061.
