Something Good is happening at Tulsa's Botanic Garden as we get closer to spring! March 2 is the start of a new chapter for Tulsa Botanic Garden.
"Basically, doubling the size of our attractions," said CEO Chuck Lamson with Tulsa Botanic Garden.
Community members broke ground on two new gardens families will be able to enjoy; The Lotus Pool and Liberty Garden.
"The Lotus Pool is probably the most complicated garden we have undertaken," said Lamson, "It will hopefully be worth the wait for Tulsans when we do open it up, because it is going to be really neat. There will be overlooks out on the water, lily ponds."
"Real patriotic, red, white, and blue with flowers and bushes with a big flagpole with an area to do nice events, a big lawn area," said Lamson about the Liberty Garden, "Large iron entry gates, benches and stairs down to the water."
The projects cost more than $6-million.
"For both gardens, we are looking at 15 to 16 months," said Brad Kmita with Jonesplan.
Manhattan Construction is teaming up with Jonesplan to bring the garden to life.
"We do heavy landscape construction and this type is perfectly suited heavily for us," said Kmita.
"This is home for Manhattan Construction- this is our corporate headquarters. So it is always fun to work on Tulsa projects and be a part of what is next for Tulsa," said Ryan Haynie with Manhattan Construction.
Representatives with Tulsa Botanic Garden said their team is always thinking of new ways to make this a space where everyone can relax, enjoy the scenery, and feel a little peace in a chaotic world.
"What a Botanic Garden should be - an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of plants and nature but also be a learning experience as well," said Lamson.
