One of Oklahoma’s hottest political races shows one candidate with an edge but the ‘undecideds’ still in control, according to a News 9 / News On 6 poll of likely GOP primary voters.

Oklahoma attorney Gentner Drummond is leading incumbent Attorney General John O’Connor 41% to 22.9%, according to the poll of 306 Oklahomans. O’Connor was appointed to the position in 2021 by Gov. Kevin Stitt after the resignation of Mike Hunter.

However, 36.1% of likely GOP primary voters said they were undecided in the Attorney General primary.

In other races, the News 9 / News On 6 poll showed Gov. Stitt in control of the GOP primary for governor, Sen. James Lankford in control of his U.S. Senate race and Rep. Markwayne Mullin and former Oklahoma speaker of the House T.W. Shannon atop the race of Republican candidates for the Senate seat to be vacated by long-time U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, who will retire at the end of the year.

Oklahoma’s primary election is set for June 28, and a runoff, if necessary, would happen August 23. The state’s general election will be November 8.
