A bizarre incident leaves more questions than answers after a man was shot to death while riding a horse in northeast Oklahoma City.
Now, investigators are on the hunt for the person responsible.
The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. Sunday near the intersection near Northeast 41st Street and Lenox Avenue.
"When officers arrived, they discovered that a person had been shot while riding horseback in that area,” Oklahoma City Police Department Master Sergeant Gary Knight said.
The victim was identified as 22-year-old Laneko McMahan.
Police said someone drove him to St. Anthony's Hospital-Midwest where he later died.
News 9 spoke to a second neighbor who said she was at a relative's house when she heard at least five gunshots. She called 911 but wasn't sure where the gunshots came from.
"At this point, investigators have not been able to identify a suspect," Knight said. "There have been no arrests made in this case."
Investigators also said it's still unclear what the motive of the shooting or how many other people were involved.
A second shooting that same night happened close by and around the same time in Spencer, but it's uncertain if they are related to each other.
Police are still trying to piece together the evidence in both cases and talk to any witnesses nearby. Fortunately, the horse is OK, and no one else in the area was injured.
