The Sooners (37-20, 15-9 Big 12) earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament by winning the Big 12 Championship with an 8-1 victory over Texas Sunday night. OU went 4-0 in the event, also defeating West Virginia (6-4), Texas Tech (6-3) and Kansas State (4-3).

The winner of the Gainesville Regional will face the winner of the Blacksburg Regional, which features No. 4 national seed Virginia Tech, Gonzaga, Columbia and Wright State.

Oklahoma is making its 39th appearance in an NCAA Regional, and first since 2018. The Sooners are 86-76 all-time in NCAA tournament games, have appeared in 10 College World Series and won national championships in 1951 and 1994.

Oklahoma has won 10 of their last 13 games entering the postseason and is 19-8 since April 12. OU closed its Big 12 regular season slate by winning five straight series and 11 of its last 15 contests.

The Sooners, which tied for second place in the league standings, posted an aggregate 21-9 record against Big 12 opponents this season. OU is ranked 19th in the RPI and went 18-12 against the top 50 teams in the RPI rankings, which was the third-most top-50 wins nationally.
