The Oklahoma Corporation Commission will hear public comments on an Oklahoma Gas and Electric case that could raise customer bills.

According to the commission, the rate hike would result in a nine percent increase for customers. The hike would amount to an extra $10 per month for the average residential customer.

There is also an additional separate increase approved a few months ago to help the company recover costs from the February 2021 winter blast.

According to OG&E, the rate hike would “improve the customer experience by reducing the number and duration of outages, while also modernizing the system.”

This is not the first time the state’s corporation commission has held a public hearing on the rate hike. The commission held its first public comment meeting last month.

The public comment will start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
