An Anadarko mother said her son’s call for help on Sunday ended in his death. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation opened an investigation into the deadly shooting involving a Caddo County Sheriff’s Deputy. The victim was identified on Monday as 48-year-old Roy Sink.
“I didn’t expect any of this to happen,” said Shirley Sink, victim’s mother.
Shirley Sink said her son's cry for help went unanswered. The father and well-known Anadarko resident died on Father's Day.
“He said ‘Mom, I’m breaking out the windows. I need help, call the Sheriff’s office,’” said Sink. “I asked ‘Why, what’s going on?’ He said, ‘Just go call them and tell them I need help.’”
A Caddo County Sheriff's deputy responded to the home and reported seeing Sink holding a weapon. His mother said she pulled up to the home only seconds behind the deputy and heard the gunshots.
“Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,” said Sink. “All I know is I see my son go down, that’s when I ran to the gate.”
She said the deputy pointed then pointed the gun at her. “He said back up or I’m going to shoot you,” said Sink.
The family counted seven shell casings. Sink said there were five in the front yard and two outside the fence in the street. One of the bullets went through the front door.
“Why was he shooting at a closed door?” said Sink. “Something is not right; something is not adding up.”
The OSBI took over the investigation and have released few details about the deadly shooting. Sink's mother questioned how she said the deputy handled the weapon her son had.
“I think the machete was on the porch,” said Sink. “I saw the officer kick the machete to my son, why did he do that? I just need answers.”
The OBSI has not confirmed if the deputy was placed on paid administrative leave. Agents will hand their findings over to the Caddo County District Attorney’s Office.
