Oklahoma Veteran To Receive Medal Of Honor For Vietnam War Service

One of Oklahoma's finest is getting a medal of honor for his service in the Vietnam War.

Specialist Five Dwight Birdwell defended his tank commander under heavy fire near Saigon.

He earned a silver star and a purple heart.

During the ceremony at the military Hall of Fame, he spoke about his experience before being honorably discharged in 1968.

President Biden will present the Medal of Honor in a ceremony July 5.
