It’s the last few weeks of summer vacation, but kids aren’t able to spend as much time outside due to the extreme heat.
While outdoor parks may be a ‘no-go’ there are plenty of other options to keep your kids active.
"There's no way you are going to sweat in here," said Kristie Dowdy, the Co-Owner of Norman's The Play Pit. "We have a huge indoor playground. It's 52 feet wide and four stories tall."
All of the screaming and running tell the rest of the story.
"We have an adult lounge for the parents' caregivers to come in and relax. They're the ones that have to endure the kids playing all day," said Dowdy.
"With these temperatures being 105, 108 degrees, parents and caretakers need to be extremely careful," said Adam Paluka with EMSA.
He adds there are a few things to remember in the heat if you do go outside.
"Wear shoes and at the very least wear socks because that is the most common place for burns. Kids do not have as much experience with their feet and soles, and they may not have the vocal skills to tell caregivers when they are burned."
EMSA adds that if you are going outside with kids, limit their exposure to 30 minutes at a time and have a 45-minute cool-off period.
