A state lawmaker is proposing a new plan to curb the ongoing teacher shortage in Oklahoma.

State Rep. Mark McBride (R-Moore) is suggesting immediate relocation and retention bonuses to bring teachers in and keep them in Oklahoma.

State Rep. McBride said the money would come from federal pandemic relief funds.

Teachers who move to Oklahoma would get a $4,000 bonus while those who stay in Oklahoma would get $5,000.

Currently, it's unclear when or if that plan could happen.
