The Oklahoma Lake Patrol pulled an airplane out of Lake Keystone Sunday, one day after it crashed, injuring the pilot and passenger. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the pilot as 66-year-old Bruce Forbes of Collinsville, and the passenger as 19-year-old Bailey Neville of Tulsa. Forbes operates a flight school to give pilots instruction in tailwheel aircraft.

The Lake Patrol dive team lifted the plane with airbags from 20 feet of water on the north end of the lake, in a cove. The aircraft, a 1941 Boeing Stearman, lost power, hit powerlines and crashed into the water, according to the OHP.

Now the left wings of the biplane are crumpled and the fabric is ripped off that side, but the cockpit was intact.

Troopers say the pilot of this plane injured his back and was hospitalized. The passenger was treated and released.

The recovery took several hours, and a tow truck finally pulled it out of the water.

Tow truck driver Terry Hockersmith said the wings would be removed and the plane taken to a secure storage site for investigators to look at the wreckage.

Flight records show the plane took off in Collinsville and crashed just a few minutes later.
