The historic TeePee Drive-In Theater on Route 66 in Sapulpa is giving the public a sneak peek of what it could be like once it is open in the spring.

The theater is having a movie party this Friday and Saturday only, offering people some family-friendly Halloween fun.

The Tee Pee Drive-In, built in the 1950s, is getting a multi-million-dollar makeover.

Now, the original screen looks new, there is a neon entrance sign, playground and even 1950s-themed Spartan trailers that were transformed into AirBnBs.

The seven acres of land sat vacant for decades until the Kante Group bought it two and a half years ago.

Joni Rogers-Kante said staff are doing a trial run this Friday and Saturday for the public's first sneak peek with fun Halloween activities.

"So, you can drive in as early as 6 o'clock, hang out with your friends, go to the concessions, play around, and then of course, all the activities will slow down once the movie begins at 8 o'clock," explained Rogers-Kante.

The drive-in is showing "Halloween's End" Friday and "ET" Saturday.

Michael Jones of Mounds is excited to go with his wife Friday.

"The TeePee Drive-In's got some history with me,” said Jones. “I used to come here as a teenager, and to see it open back up like this, it's amazing."

Rogers-Kante said the TeePee may host more events before it opens in the spring.

Mark Lawson, the City of Sapulpa's economic development director, said the drive-in is already getting great reviews.

"So many people investing in buildings in our downtown and in businesses in Sapulpa, and the TeePee was the first project that got underway that people said, 'There's something to offer here in Sapulpa,’" explained Lawson.

Tickets are still available, and you can buy them in person, but the drive-in recommends online. Click here to access the website to buy tickets.
