OTA: Gilcrease Expressway Turnpike To Open Monday

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA ) says the Gilcrease Expressway is nearing completion.

According to the OTA, the turnpike is set to open on Monday afternoon. The OTA announced on Thursday that the Gilcrease Expressway West will open to drivers at around 2 p.m.

The new turnpike will connect I-44 to US-412 across the Arkansas River.

The OTA says the turnpike has been under construction since spring of 2020, and parts of it are already open to drivers.

Some of the connecting roads will remain under construction for at least six months.

Officials also say Monday's opening may be delayed if there is bad weather.
